Ulva Island summer ranger
This is a rare opportunity for one volunteer to stay at Ulva Island (for 2 weeks) in return for acting as a roving ranger during the height of the visitor season between December and March.
.
Tasks include track maintenance, weed surveillance, visitor facility maintenance, cleaning toilets, biosecurity advocacy, monitoring visitor behaviour and trap checking.
There will also be ample time for other pursuits, such as bird watching and photography.
Rangers reside on the island. A single-room basic hut is located a short walk from the island’s jetty in Post Office Cove. This hut has solar lighting, gas cooking facilities and can comfortably accommodate two people.
* this volunteer programme is managed by the Department of Conservation *
details of fitness level and required skills can be found on the
Southland volunteer opportunities page and the Ulva Island summer rangers page
please do not send applications or questions about volunteer opportunities to the Ulva Island Charitable Trust!
